Gold – Exported from Ghana to Aurum Refineries Ltd (Switzerland)
In 2024, CM MINING facilitated the export of 12,400 kilograms of verified gold from Ghana to Aurum Refineries Ltd, a top-tier LBMA-accredited refinery in Switzerland. Sourced across 37 licensed operations in the Ashanti and Western Regions, the consignment represented one of the largest single-year gold flows from West Africa to Europe under full EUDR and OECD compliance frameworks
Challenge
Aurum required all material to meet LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance, including geotagged origin, operator due diligence, and chain-of-custody logs for every kilogram. Simultaneously, Ghana’s Minerals Commission introduced new digital export permit protocols mid-year, risking delays on shipments exceeding 500 kg.
Solution
CM MINING deployed field teams across Obuasi, Tarkwa, and Prestea to collect GPS-verified origin data and pre-validate licenses. All 12.4 tonnes were assayed at SGS Accra, consolidated into tamper-proof containers, and submitted through Ghana’s new e-permit system 14 days ahead of schedule. Real-time documentation sync ensured zero customs holds at Kotoka Airport.
OUTCOME:
The full consignment cleared Swiss customs within 48 hours of arrival. Aurum extended its contract through 2027, citing “unmatched traceability and execution at scale.” This shipment alone represented $980 million in facilitated trade value.
