EUDR-Compliant Gold Shipment – South Sudan to UAE Refiner
In early 2025, CM MINING facilitated the export of 9,800 kilograms of gold from South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria region to a top-tier refiner in Dubai. Sourced through Juba-registered trading desks and verified against national mining records, the shipment was one of the first fully EUDR-compliant gold consignments from South Sudan carrying geotagged origin data, operator due diligence files, and full chain-of-custody logs.
Challenge
South Sudan’s nascent regulatory framework lacked standardized digital export permits, while UAE customs required EUDR-aligned documentation under new anti-money laundering rules. Without pre-validated paperwork, the shipment risked indefinite hold at Juba Airport or rejection upon arrival in Sharjah.
Solution
CM MINING worked with the Juba Field Verification Network (JFVN) to compile physical and digital proof of origin, including GPS coordinates, miner IDs, and regional trade registry cross-checks. Our UK compliance team formatted the dossier to UAE Central Bank specifications and submitted it via the Emirates Digital Gateway 10 days pre-flight. A dedicated courier with diplomatic cargo clearance handled air transport.
